“70% More Explosive” is a fun and energetic piece for young concert band. It is designed to keep everyone engaged from beginning to end, including fun and flexible percussion parts. The title was inspired by the label on some 4th of July fireworks several years ago. It allowed me to play around with and reference some tunes that I feel really connect to the 4th. Most prominently, you can hear little hints at “The Stars and Stripes Forever” and “The Star-Spangled Banner”.
