Images began as a harmonic progression of fifteen chords that, through various voice-leading techniques, expanded to seventy-five. Images begins with primarily “white key” sonorities, and slowly works its way into the “black keys” using thicker sonorities. Eventually Images returns to the “white keys,” bringing the piece full circle.
